Install and first run
Install three binaries. Sethu migrates code. Vimanam diffs specs. Nextest runs verification checks.
Key terms
Bob pack. Files that sethu install copies into a consumer repository. Example: the pack creates the /api-upgrade command, its skill references, and the migrator mode under .bob/.
Capability report. Output of sethu capabilities that lists tool versions and command status. Example: it shows vimanam 1.3.0 (supported) when a new enough Vimanam sits on PATH.
Steps
- Install the published CLI from crates.io with Rust 1.96 or later:
Terminal window cargo install sethu --locked - Install Vimanam separately. Sethu requires version 1.3.0 or later on PATH:
Terminal window cargo install vimanam - Install the verification runner:
Terminal window cargo install cargo-nextest - Confirm the setup:
Terminal window sethu capabilities
Expect one line per command, each marked available. A missing helper shows up as unavailable with its version.
Version rules
| Helper | Requirement | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Vimanam | 1.3.0 or later | A separate binary on PATH. cargo install vimanam requests the current release unless pinned. |
| cargo-nextest | Any recent release | Verification runs need it. |
| git | Any recent release | Attempt binding and report provenance need it. |
Sethu never downloads or updates Vimanam. Install or upgrade that binary yourself.
sethu install installs the Bob pack into a consumer repository. It never installs Vimanam.
Source build
Binary archives for Linux, macOS, and Windows ship with each GitHub release, with SHA-256 checksums. Each archive includes the Bob pack. Archives never include Vimanam or cargo-nextest.
To build from source instead, clone the repository and run:
git clone https://github.com/noemaforge/sethucd sethucargo build --releaseThe binary lands at target/release/sethu. Copy it onto PATH.
